Our Board Members

Kimberley Maher

President

I joined the Board in 2017 to be more involved with the wide array of our N*CF member projects, all of which enrich the community where I have developed my roots. I’ve enjoyed getting to know the people, the forest and different lifestyles, a rich community in Interior Alaska.

Kristina Miller

Vice President

As a lifelong resident of Fairbanks, I’ve witnessed the incredible impact our nonprofits have on our community. NSCF supports them in making an even bigger difference. Alleviating the stress of running, managing and funding, NSCF allows member projects to focus on helping people and reflects a commitment to community development, inclusivity and support.

Joel Keeney

Director

As a lifelong Fairbanks resident, I know the impact that people can make in the lives of our neighbors. When hands join, we find common ground in making our community an even better place. I love Alaska’s Golden Heart, and I love working hard to improve our quality of life.

Coleen Turner

Treasurer

I love Fairbanks; it is a wonderful community full of non-profit organizations meeting needs of everyday residents with everything from food and shelter to innovative ways to express oneself through arts and culture. However, not every cause needs to be a non-profit organization. North Star Community Foundation fills the gap by providing fiscal oversight and connecting resources to help local causes succeed in fulfilling their mission.

Indra Tobias

Director

I joined the Board in 2024 to deepen my roots here in a supportive way. Originally from Atlanta, digging into the community here in Fairbanks has been a goal for a few years now. I hope to support growing our community nonprofits, arts, historical and service organizations for years to come.

Riyan Lash

Director

I’m new to the Board. I enjoy volunteering for community activities. I love animals and want to provide support to animals and their humans in rural communities. I hope to encourage others my age to involve themselves in volunteer work and pursue the betterment of their community.

Vicki Koehler

Secretary

Vicki brings 35 years of experience in the social services arena to the board, primarily in child welfare/child protection service delivery, supervision, management and training, in both South Dakota and Alaska, including Alaskan communities of Delta Junction, Juneau, Fairbanks and Bethel. Vicki has also worked as a mental health provider for Tanana Chiefs in the village of Tanana for two years and as Social Services Director for Orutsarmiut Native Council (ONC) in Bethel for four years. And eight years as Human Services program director and instructor for the former Tanana Valley Campus (UAF CTC), as well as additional years as an adjunct professor at the Kuskokwim Campus in Bethel. I hope to offer the knowledge I have gained from my experience to assist in the board’s recommendations and activities.
