
WallBusters Advocate for Systems Change to remove barriers to Independence for People with Disabilities.
Our mission is to educate and advocate for the removal of barriers to independence for people with disabilities Education is important because a person without a disability may not understand what barriers exist and how those barriers may prevent some people from living independent and successful lives. We also advocate for the rights of people with a disability because it is our social responsibility to ensure that a person with a disability is able to access the same social benefits as any other member of our community.
Some of these areas of Advocacy are:
• Transportation Issues
Evaluated accessibility of the MACS system and presented the results to the FNSB Transportation Department.
Advocated to the FNSB Assembly, Alaska.
Transportation Task Force and Alaska Independent Living Centers Forums regarding transportation issues.
• Fairgrounds Access
Conducted Access surveys prior to the Fair opening and during the Fair.
Collaborated with Palmer Fair to take advantage of their ADA work .
Assisted Tanana Valley Fair to acquire funding for ADA improvements to the Fair Grounds.
Assisted Fair Vendors to become ADA complaint.
Each year hold an ADA celebration and educational event at the Fair.
• Voting Accessibility in Local, State and Federal Elections
Advocacy and trainings with “I Vote I Count”
Touch Screen Voting Machines in local elections
Touch Screen training for people with disabilities
Primary Election and General Election voter surveys
• Legislative issues for people with hidden disabilities
WallBusters work in collaboration with:
• Statewide Independent Living Council
• National Council on Independent Living

2nd Monday& the 4th Monday each month
