The Chena Tool Library enhances self sufficiency, community resiliency and neighborly relations by supporting DIY endeavors through sharing tools, knowledge and skills.

Fairbanks is a community of do-it-yourselfers, from homebuilding to car repair to chicken raising. However, not everyone can afford all the tools needed for these endeavors, nor does everyone have the space to store them or even the desire to own them for infrequent or one-time use.

Friends of SS Nenana is a state non-profit dedicated to the renovation and preservation of the sternwheeler SS Nenana located in Pioneer Park in Fairbanks, Alaska. The wooden-hulled, western Rivers-style steam sternwheel passenger riverboat Nenana is one of only three steam-powered passenger sternwheelers of any kind left in the U.S., and the only large wooden sternwheeler.

Poised on the front lines of climate change in the arctic, Alaska is no stranger to its impacts. As the climate crisis escalates, so does the need for urgent action. Our local communities are all experiencing hardships caused by a changing climate. We want all Alaskans to have safe homes and strong businesses/organizations that serve their needs in the face of extreme weather brought on by climate change.

Fairbanks Skate Park Coalition was formed in April 2016 by a group of action sport riders who want to create safe, fun skate parks in the Fairbanks North Star Borough. Since that time, they have gained non-profit status, assisted in designing and refurbishing the North Pole Skate Park and then hosted a grand opening and competition. They have since started working with the North Star Borough and Parks and Recreation department to upgrade and expand the aging John Weaver Memorial Skatepark.
