Stars Of Gold Readers (SOGR) works to remove barriers, expand opportunities, and assist families and school staff members in supporting strong literacy success. Providing books and activities which affirm all identities and reflect the diversity of our global society increases the likelihood of life-long readers. Children are more likely to engage with books when they see themselves reflected on the page. Stars of Gold Readers is reviewing and purchasing books that will help children see themselves and others in a positive way.

Our goal is to develop an anti-bias toolkit for family workshops and classes for educators to use with children. Titles will include the themes of Alaska Native/American Indian, African American, LGBTQ+, Disabilities, and Under-Represented People and Families.

Your support to purchase these materials and make them available to the community is appreciated! You can provide that support by submitting a donation through our donation page.

Stars of Gold Readers is a collaborative, community-wide organization which promotes all students reading on grade level by the end of third grade. SOGR recognizes the inherent value of community support to promote quality teaching for every child in every setting every day from birth. Our goal is to support community solutions and help families succeed in their critical roles as first teachers and best advocates. We identify and target gaps in existing community resources and attempt to fill these gaps wherever possible.

By engaging with and connecting community resources to remove barriers, expand opportunities, and assist families in fulfilling their roles and responsibilities to serve as full partners in the success of their children, we will support student success.
